Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

Well things are developing nicely in Baby Girl's room. No we still don't have a name for her yet. :( But here's what I have been working on.  I bought a the bumper crib skirt and small sham off of EBay. It is Pottery Barn's "Chloe". I love the colors in it and the price was right.

When I got the bedskirt it just had the green ric rac on it. I spiced it up by adding the pink and turquoise ribbon with Jolene's permanent fabric glue. Yes it's washable! Very Easy!!

I also added these rosettes to the pillow sham.
For the walls I simply framed some scrapbook paper, and I couldn't be happier with it! I love love love this!! It is colorful and fun and simple and modern and girly all wrapped up so beautifully.
I was planning on making a quilt, but laziness pregnancy got the best of me. Also I wanted to applique her name on it but since there is no name yet and I am too impatient to wait any longer I came up with this. I simply just used a store bought white silky/minky and added the ribbon and rosettes to match.
I love how it turned out. Simple and sweet.
I used the fabric glue to hold the ribbon in place (perfectly straight) then I sewed everything on.
Only 8 more weeks and we will have another precious little girl to add to the house in her sweet little room.
Ohh I am having fun in this room. I have a great window and alphabet art to hang up above the changing table. I also want to make a cutie flower ribbon mobile, nursing cover, and car seat tent to match. We'll see if I get around to all that. Wish me luck on the curtains, hopefully they're next!
I just noticed that this room matches my blog, how cute. :)

Splurge- Crewel Pillows

Ok I admit..... I splurged (in my standards).
It was so worth it though. I found these crewel embroidered pillows at Marshalls the other day and they were just too perfect to pass up. $20 a pillow isn't that bad considering it adds so much visual interest, great texture, adds beautiful colors and ties the pops of color in my kitchen into my family room. Totally worth it.I have had my eyes on these for about 9 months. I first saw them in pottery barn and didn't know this type of embroidery was called crewel.I also saw this at Pier One, but I wasn't about to spend $30-$40 on either of these. At one point I went to a specialty fabric store and found the crewel fabric I loved was over $100 a yard! What the?!
Anyways mine are perfect for our home and I am loving them.

Valentine's Day Mania!

Well I have 3 new Valentine's Day projects to show you. Yes 3! wahoo- I'm feeling super creative because of this new blog. Thanks for visiting everyone. Anyways this Valentine's Wreath is a Goodwill transformation. I think I bought it for a dollar last year. I repainted a few of the hearts and the love banner, and added more ribbon and a bow.

These little containers can be used for anything. Valentine love notes, a gift bag, candy, Visiting teaching treats or maybe even a few flowers. What else could they be used for? They are made by putting scrapbook paper and embellishments around used food containers. Another great way to reduce, reuse and recycle. I bet you have all the stuff you need at home already. Make sure to use strong tape or glue.
My little heart pillow. My hubby make me this awesome quilt for Valentine's Day (with the help of his Mom) the first year we were married. I love it! I have been wanting to make a cutie little pillow to go with it for a while.

I love the texture around the edges. You can snip the edges to help it out. It will get even better over time too. I used contrast stitching and squiggely sewing to give it those special details.

Can you tell I love ribbon? If you need steps or instructions let me know.

Pillow Wraps- way easy and cheap

Well since the Scentsy wrap was so popular I thought I would just stay with the wrap thing. ;) Pillow wraps are so great because I like changing things up a bit with the seasons and holidays and even just my mood. They are also great because they are so easy to make, change out, and they are so inexpensive.
Pillow inserts found on clearance from TJ Maxx (love that store)-$3 and 1 red pillow from Walmart $5- comes in quite a few colors. Fabric also from Walmart $3 yard. I can't believe it! I love the texture and the modern design. I actually did the backs of these in a black that I already had.
A pretty easy sew. Remember when making the pillow wraps that it should hug it a bit so it doesn't fall out of place.
Inspiration came from Martha Stewart- got to love her, she thinks of everything.

If you make these or plan to- leave a comment and/or link to your blog. Martha's photo's always look so divine. I need some yarn on my couch. ;) I'll work on my photo skills.
